The Food Industry University Coalition Student Case Study Competition is a competition that provides students attending the N.G.A. Show the opportunity to analyze a real world contemporary retail business challenge. Working in teams, students will collaboratively analyze, present and respond to questions posed by a panel of judges.
Each university in the coalition will be able to field a team of undergraduate students to compete against teams from the other schools. The experience promises to challenge students, provide a wonderful networking opportunity, and in the end, raise students’ awareness of the importance of the independent grocery industry.

In 2011 N.G.A. added a new dimension to the student program at convention. Student teams from eight universities competed in the first Food Industry University Coalition Student Industry Case Competition hosted by the Asparagus Club. The topic for 2011 was Social Media. The competition provided students the opportunity to analyze a real world contemporary retail business challenge. Working in teams, students first analyzed the question of how should a ten-store group utilize social media and then presented their recommendations to and fielded questions from panels of industry judges.
